Do you agree that a company's most valuable asset is usually its employees? Just who takes care of the staff? Everyone answers this question: the HR department!
What is the human resources department? The importance of the HR department is often greatly underestimated. If it is the same for you then I want to give you an idea of how to change that and most importantly, how to get started.
Investment in Employees and Strategic Issues Necessary
The employees are at the heart of a company! Only who takes care of them, who is responsible for the employees, and that they remain responsible? The HR department and ultimately the HR manager!
Unfortunately, many HR managers struggle with the fact that your HR department in companies is not necessarily given the importance it needs and deserves.
I have often seen HR managers who threaten to drown in day-to-day administrative business and companies in which the HR department is responsible for data management, recording working hours and preparing payrolls, etc., and where there was no time for anything else apart from support in finding employees and managing applicants.
Sometimes, however, the company management does not see the need to invest more in the HR department. The status quo works! So far!
On the other hand, I have also seen that there are indeed many strategic ideas in the interests of the employees and that there is also the will to implement them, but as already mentioned, day-to-day business eats up too much time.
Just how long should it go on like this? In times when there is a shortage of skilled workers, companies can no longer afford not to invest in their employees and these strategic issues. For the best, just a high salary is no longer the decisive argument to work somewhere.
Now also say that something has to change, but ask yourself: How and where should you start? How does my HR department get the importance it needs to be given? What might the shareholders be proud of? What would massively increase the internal and external impact of the HR department in order to achieve this significance?
If You Are a Top Employer, It Is Thanks to Your HR Department
The internal effect is enormous. The employees are proud of their company, identity even more strongly with their employer, and the management is proud of the good work in the HR department. But not only the internal but also the external effect is amazing. For example, the number of applications increases many times over or customers speak to you all at once and find it great to work with such a company.
Such an award only requires a lot and until you win it, of course, a lot is necessary. Above all, the investment in strategic HR issues such as systematic employee development and training, an objective career and remuneration model, a systematic working atmosphere, health management, and much more. The list is very long and we know this from experience!
But do not start to tackle one of these topics half-heartedly, first ensure that you minimize your administrative activities and day-to-day business to such an extent that you can fully use the free capacities on these topics. Don't forget to use a human resource management system to keep your HR department work smooth
